Reflexology Request Brochure

The feet and hands are a mirror image of the body, reflexology uses both to treat the whole body. Reflexology is a complementary therapy, it does not diagnose or cure illness. By working each zone and point on the feet correctly you can help to rebalance body systems and free the flow of energy within the body. Reflexology can help create a state of equilibrium and balance.

Career/Progression

A Reflexology treatment can cost between €40 and €60 depending upon the length of treatment and the location of your beauty clinic / day spa. With no big extra cost on your business this ever growing treatment can increase your revenue by €13,000 per annum. This is based on 5 treatments per week at €50



Course Outline

The aim of this course is to provide students with training which will allow them to work confidently as a professional Reflexologist. This course covers all aspects of Reflexology from the History of Reflexology, Philosophy of Complementary Therapies, Anatomy & Physiology, Mapping the Feet, Client Care and Aftercare. All the above topics are taught alongside other subjects such as Health and Hygiene, Structure of the skin, Skin Diseases, Business Studies, Salon Procedures and Nutrition. Exam: Theory – 45mins MCQ paper Practical – 1 ½ Hours Case Studies – 16 to be presented to examiner


 

Module 1: Reflexology Practical & Theory 

·       Zones of the body – longitudinal & transverse

·       Cross Reflexes

·       Understanding Zone Therapy

·       Aims & Benefits

·       Mapping the reflex areas

·       Differences between holistic and symptomatic approach

·       Pregnancy

·       Contraindications

·       History of reflexology

·       How reflexology is used in the promotion of health and well being

This module also includes practical reflexology.

·       Observation & assessment of the feet

·       Relaxation techniques & movements

·       Support procedures

·       Location of reflexes

·       Back up reflexes

·       Carrying out a reflexology treatment

 

 Module 2: Anatomy & Physiology of hands & feet

·       Bones of the hands & feet

·       Superficial muscles of the hand & arm

·       Superficial muscles to the foot & lower leg

·       Blood supply to the hands & feet

·       Skin

·       Internal organs

·       Lymphatic System

·       Nervous system

·       Blood circulation

·       Elimination process

  

Module 3: Professionalism & Client Care:

·       Health & Safety

·       Hygiene

·       Professional associations

·       Salon Procedures

·       Nutrition
 

Module 4: Business Studies & First Aid

·       Insurance

·       Marketing

·       Different types of business
