The Professional Makeup Course Request Brochure

Our professional make-up artist course offers a superior level of industry training, which will push your boundaries to perfect classic bridal looks to dramatic high fashion looks as well as gruesome special effects including creating burn victims and knife wounds. On completion of your course you will hold an International Diploma in Fashion, Theatre and Media Makeup.

As this is an Internationally Recognised Worldwide Diploma you may be eligible for funding through your local social welfare office. Please contact your local office for the relevant forms and we will be happy to complete this application on your behalf.



Course Outline

Designed for those who wish to pursue a career as a professional make-up artist, our professional make-up artistry course offers a superior level of industry training which will push your boundaries to perfect classic bridal looks and also dramatic high fashion looks as well as gruesome special effects, including creating burn wounds and knife wounds. The Professional Course will be conducted on-site using state-of-the-art studio facilities. Learners will participate in photo-shoots working alongside an industry leading photographer Tomasz Kornaz. These final images will create a six image portfolio, a key promotional tool for every make-up artist. Preparing learners for work after they graduate is of primary concern for Sharon Leavy College of Hair & Beauty. With this priority in mind every learner on the professional make-up artistry course will complete a one day work experience programme and include a business section as part their course to assist with career development and job opportunity.

Learn daytime makeup, evening makeup, occasional makeup, bridal makeup
Specialised makeup knowledge for mature skin, male makeup, children’s makeup
Makeup for ethnic skin tones
Cosmetic science
Script work for Film, TV & Theatre
Period Hair & Makeup: 1600's, 1700's, 1800's, 1920's to millennium
Geisha, Egyptian, Ballet, Theatre makeup
Pantomime, Fantasy, Fairytale makeup
Airbrushing, Tattoo covering & Temporary tattoos

To complete this course you will be required to work hard both in class and at home. We recommend a minimum of 1-2 hours of practical & theoretical study to be completed each day in order to become a competant and confident MUA.   We also strongly recommend that you commence your work experience a minimum of 8 weeks into your training.
