I started my training with Sharon Leavy College of Hair and Beauty back in 2011 and have been back numerous times since to further my training. To date I have completed courses in Make Up Artistry, Specialised Make Up Artistry, Gel Nails, Shellac, Nail Art, Spray Tanning and Beautician. Over the past four years I have had the pleasure of training with most of the team. They are extremely talented in their fields and are such a helpful, welcoming bunch. Before starting Make Up Artistry with Adele Miley I had a passion for makeup but lacked the confidence to carry out makeup on other people. Three to four weeks into the course I had the confidence to do make up for a bride and her bridal party along with a few guests. I have done a number of weddings since. Adele and Sharon arranged shoots for us to further our experience and even organised for us to do make up at a local fashion show. I loved the Specialised Make Up Artistry as it was all things fantasy and gory. I love all things art and crafty so felt like I was in my element with this course. Adele taught us all the tricks and techniques to create prosthetics, wounds and lots of other special effects. I have found a new appreciation for TV and movies and the extremely hard work that goes in to them by their make up departments. I love recreating movie characters and special effects makeup for clients especially Halloween as they really go all out and let me completely transform them. All that was down to my education in the college. I hadn't really much of an interest in nails before doing the courses with Edel. She introduced me to nail art and I have been hooked ever since. She was amazing at really breaking down the theory so that it was understandable to us complete beginners. She broke down complicated designs so that they were easy to recreate. I went on to do the Creative Upstyling workshop with Samantha. As a person who was useless at hair I decided to give it a go and hope for the best. Samantha was amazing and so patient and I learned so much in one day. The part time Beautician course was very intense but I wouldn't change a thing. Jennifer was brilliant and the rest of the girls were so nice, we all pulled through together and I have made some friends for life. Jennifer really made it an enjoyable experience and passed on all her knowledge, tips and tricks to us. She had us so well prepared for our exams and was always there if we needed help or were struggling with a certain area. Throughout, Sharon's door was and is always open for a chat or advice. The ladies in the office were always there with a friendly smile and full of advice and guidance. Sharon has a great team and I look forward to furthering my training in the college soon.
